Romy Maxime is a Swiss South African photographer known for her reportage style portraits and fashion work. Mixing both digital and analogue techniques, her signature style is defined by cinematic black and white portraits of people. Her work explores themes of vulnerability, joy and beauty with a special focus on women, art portraits and lifestyle. Poetry, the works of classic art photographers and personal imprints from a life of travel are Romy's key influences. After completing a degree in finance at the Wharton School in Philadelphia, she furthered careers in journalism and advertising, moving between Berlin and Cape Town.
She has created an art book on women entitled "Librations" and is represented by Berlin Art Gallery PALM Berlin. . She works commercially (in colour) for home and interior, events, fashion look-books, portraits, family shoots and lifestyle advertising. Some of her clientele include Rolling Stone Magazine, The Mail & Guardian, Vice Magazine, Innervisions Music, Ry X, Traffic Magazine, Bo & Luca, Wilhelmina, Lalesso and Meerstein as well as features in Vogue Magazine.
